Andy has taken a wildcard for this event which starts tomorrow - it is also being televised next week on Sky.

Looks like the back is holding up and he wants to get back up the rankings ASAP.

After a steady comeback (one loss and one win) at an exhibition event last week Andy tests his back in Qatar as the 20th season kicks off.

He has drawn a local player (ranked 2000+) so a nice easy starter for Andy. Let's hope Andy has a great 2014.

Andy Murray begins his comeback after his injury lay-off at Queen's Club. How will it end? In more injury torment or ending in him regaining the trophy or perhaps somewhere in between. As long as he gets in some crucial court time and proves to be back to fitness I will be happy. Remember that last year he exited at the first stage here and yet had a great run to the final at Wimbledon proving that what happens at Queen's is not indicative of what will happen at Wimbledon.

Andy Murray began the defence of his Brisbane International crown today. Sadly, it wasn't Andy's best performance by a long shot. He was taken to three sets by the Australian qualifier John Millman before winning through to the Third Round. I never saw the match but all reports would suggest it was a rusty performance but one that should have been far more routine. Andy won the first set and a slip in performance and concentration and first serve percentage meant Andy made things much more difficult for himself. Still, as Andy said afterwards it made for a very good workout. Next up for Andy is...

The invitational event held in Abu Dhabi is where Andy Murray has kicked off his new season. Sadly, it ended in a straight sets 6-3 6-4 defeat to Janko Tipsarevic. Not the result Andy was looking for but I have no doubt he'll be unperturbed.

Is anyone here still part of the Tennis 606ers group or the V2 Newbies? I'm on both although the newbies seems to have been deserted. Still life in the 606ers though. I missed the picks for Indian Wells but have Miami in. Current 4000th (ish) out of 23000 (ish), not bad, not great either Very Happy

Andy Murray will kick off his 2012 season playing in the Brisbane International and will face Kazakhstan's Mikhail Kukushkin.

Not sure if I like the sound of that treatment on a knee injury before the season has even started. No

    Best of luck to Andy.

    See no talent
    Hear no good news
    Speak no sense

I see Draper has decided to bite the bullet and admit quite openly that his forever extending 10yr program has stuttered and hiccuped, stalled and stammered and quite literally, dried up any hope of a top 50 player within his ridiculous time scale shenanigans, considering the talent he had in the junior dept.

Seeing the light has been one of Drapers most difficult missions to date, but somehow, a glimpse into the future that any sensible person could see a mile away has broken the spell.

    Maybe now, he will...

I see Andy featured in this one - coming close to ending Novaks great run

He was also featured in the best one for last year (v Rafa at the WTF)

Although on both occasions he lost it says a lot because it takes two players to make it " a great match" clap

Good news for the womens game, all we need now is for Mr Draper to resign and Judy could take his position and get the job done.

Of course, she would have to liquidate the old school tie brigade and put a call out for some budding entrepreneurs...whose interest is in sport/tennis.

That kind of brings me round to a recent thought, scrap the LTA and give all our money to Tennis UK and maybe we'll get a few more Murrays...

We should have set up some ATP picks for this under our new forum name, however too late for this one!

Anyway here's hoping for a return to form for Andy and at least a place as far as the semis would do nicely prior to the USO Very Happy

Looks like the ATP have got it right concerning giving back some of their profits where their events are held around the world.

This is on top of all the charity work done by the players.

Kudos to them for doing that.
