It is time that Andy got back on the winning track in the Masters Cup. It has been almost a year since his last triumph in a Masters Cup event. Any idea of who are entering this tournament?

Full list CC, pretty much everyone who enters for a slam normally, must be a popular pick for the tour..

Not sure. Perhaps wants a break to recharge his batteries for the bigger challenges that lie ahead.

He has had a big run, but according to stats, he's had the least amount of matches in a row.

Novak's website shows him playing Roger's Cup (despite it's name Wink ).

He must have pulled out LF, and they haven't updated the data.

He can only pull out if he is injured, surely? Very sad, if so.

Where does it say Novak has pulled out of Roger's cup? He is on official site and ATP?

Does anyone have any news?

In the list of players and their rank for the tournie, Novak is not ranked.

http://www.rogerscup.com/men/english/playerList.php

CC said it first, and I assumed he read it somewhere, but his website says that Montreal is his next event and there is no breaking news saying he's out or anything.

So I'm confused now (which ain't a hard thing to do to me), but if in doubt just blame CC Twisted Evil

To clear this up on link:-

http://www.rogerscup.com/men/english/playerList.php

I presumed that (as there was no ranking by Novak's name) that he had withdrawn or wasn't down to play there. My mistake but that link is confusing. Embarassed

Is Montreal going through the same heatwave as the rest of Eastern Canada ?

If so, and it holds up, who will this benefit, as there is high humidity as well, and we all know that slows the ball down a bit.

So, heat, water vapour, HC, large balls........... will this help the likes of Djoko and Nadal or hinder them ?

And how might this affect our man Murray ?

No mention of Montreal being hit in that report but I'd guess it will still be very hot. There is a general concesus of opinion that the hotter the better for Andy in terms of how it helps his style of play.

Well, Montreal is closer to Quebec than Toronto, further north, but temps are forecast in the 30's. It might not be so humid as down in Florida and the Mid east, so it might be OK for the players if this weather lasts into August.

Two weeks to go though, so the weather might change completely.

Physically I don't think the heat will bother Andy as he has spent a lot of his time in the heat of Spain and in Miami where he trains and stays some of the time.

He did play rather well in Australia, when he was ill with a virus and took Verdasco to (I think) 5 sets, and it was very hot that year.

Also his strongest slam performance wise has been the Australian Open that has surely the hottest temperatures of them all.

Yep, and he got to the 4th round in that 2009 buggy faceoff with Nando.

I do think he will get to the final at the USO, but will it be a rerun of this years AO with Djoko on the other side of the net ? if so, the knowledge that Novak is not indestructible may play into Murray's hands.

I'm not sure re the heat. I was in New York last year and watched Andy lose to Wawrinka. The heat was brutal, but the humidity was the real killer. Andy played all his matches at the height of the afternoon sun, and he just had no spark to kick on when playing Stan after two previous matches in similar conditions. This may have just been a one off as I know he has previously said he doesn't consider the heat/humidity to be an issue due to his training in Miami. Lets hope not. Go Andy

It can sap one players energy, and not bother another. But I agree playing three consecutive matches in such conditions isn't going to bring the best out in a player.

We've got a little inside a month to hope that the weather clears itself and the humidity out before the USO opens and we get more sympathy from the organisers for our lad.

Well, after all the talk about humidity and heat, he didnt look too bad on the day of the final. It took more out of Djoko than Murray.

Good signs for Andy going into the US open.

What would I give for a Murray V Federer final !
