by CaledonianCraig Yesterday at 12:26I
checked the latest rankings and Andy Murray is closer to overtaking
Roger Federer than he is of being overtaken in the rankings. A great
hard court season and who knows?

To be honest I cannot for the life of me see Soderling winning anthing worthwhile (Masters) and as far as a challenge to Andy in the rankings I dont think it will happen.

But offcourse Andy is defending 2000 points between Toronto & Shanghai so he needs to produce good results here to maintain the gap.

And a USO final thrown in would be the icing on the cake ,with preferably a WIN as the outcome.

Oh you eternal optimist BOO ... lol

But yes, I'd forgotten he had two to defend, but he's got Cincinnati and Paris to do better than QF's, my fingers are crossed (and eyes, but thats another story)

Well the encouraging thing (ranking points wise) is that he should be able to go further in the US Open this year than last so more points in the offering there me thinks.

As forecast Andy picked up more points at the US Open and is now closing in on Roger Federer in third. Murray trails Fed by 1,215 points and ranked fifth David Ferrer is now 2,965 points adrift of Andy.
