Lets hear it for the girls !!!

Laura Robson putting up her trademark fighting style against Kim Clijsters, went a break down to go 4-1 behind and broke back later to go 4-5 and serving.

Great stuff from Laura but Kim ain't going to take that lying down.

A fabulous performance from Laura Robson. She has a tough nut to crack next up as well - No.9 seed Li Na. Already though she will be leaping up the rankings again after this tournament. Fingers crossed she can pull off the win against Li Na.

She's been working out with Jez Green and it shows, her movement was so much better than in the past, which means her staying power is greater, which gets her deeper into long rallies and games and inevitably deeper into tournies like slams.

I'm still pinching myself that she won it, although, at 5-4 in the 2nd set, when Laura was still flicking winners down the line, I felt she must win that match, but Kim kept coming back and when Clijsters went ahead in the tie break, a third set looked to be on the cards, but Laura then played some of her best tennis to edge ahead and win it superbly.

Another real test of her mental strength now looms up with Li Na, 9th seed and another very experienced player akin to Clijsters in career maturity. 2011 has been her best year by winning the FO, so she may be past her sell-by-date but that doens't make it any easier for Laura.
(trivia note...did you know that Chinese players play 65% of their winnings/income to the government)

As long as she remains confident and "enjoys" her match as her last one, then she stands a good chance of going further. Could be close depending on Li Na's intensity, she won Cincinatti this year, but she is prone to buckle under pressure on big points.

That is where Laura could get to La Ni and win a few breaks.

Yes Jubba, if she can reproduce the same form against Li Na she certainly has a chance. If she could get through that match then who knows how far she could go - and all from an 18-year-old. Exciting times ahead me thinks.

Laura Robson takes another encouraging step up the ladder to the top. She has won the first set 6-4 against No.9 seed Li Na. Are we to see a British woman in the 4th Round of a slam event for the first time for 22 years?

Laura Robson hanging on in there in the second set as it is back on serve and she leads 3-2. Li Na will need to make her move soon or Robson will create a little bit of history.

I see some remnants of the steel Andy shows, she seems to be taking on board some guidance from him I think. Andy immediately called for calm when she beat Kim and to give her time, he appears to be protective of her and the pressures the media put On leading Brits as Andy has found out to his cost, though is much more 'the man' now after Wimby and the Olympics. Very Happy

Well he must have a lot of contact with her as his fitness coach Jez Green has been reportedly working with her hence her vast improvement in movement around the court. This second set now getting very tense at 4-4 and 30-all as Robson serves.

Very solid service game to Robson and leads 6-5 and is guaranteed at least a tie-break. Mightily impressive stuff.

An equally strong service game from Li Na to hold and it is 6-6 and a second set tie-break.

Set point for Li Na at 6-5 on Robson's serve.

And Li Na finds the baseline to take the set and level at one set all. It is going to be very tough now for Laura but whatever happens she has shown she can live with the very best players in the world - all at the age of 18.

The third set going with serve with Li Na leading 2-1 but Robson had chances in the previous game to break.

That is ridiculous. Robson won a point but as ball was called out she had to replay the point and it would have meant a break for her as well.
