I am keen for Andy to put in a strong performance here and hopefully reach the final and win putting more ranking points in the bank.

The top ten are interested, so it could be a mini slam to all intents and purposes.

No reason why Murray can't get into second week at least. It may depend on Nadals recent return and how he fares in Chile. If Rafa's taken out of the permutation, Djoko or Fed may get a match less in reality.

The draw should be out any time now. The first couple of rounds for Andy will all be about shaking off the rust and getting into his stride.

I love Indian Wells!

It means Spring is here!
It also coincides with the Cheltenham Festival. There is no better time of the year!
Good luck Andy

The draw has placed Andy Murray in a draw that could see him face Juan Martin Del Potro in the quarters and Novak Djokovic in the semis so it will be a test. No real terrors in the earlier rounds. Interestingly, Federer has been drawn to face Nadal at the quarter-final stage.

Yes Andy v Delpo would be an interesting one however I cannot see Andy losing this one.

As for Novak if he and Andy make the semis this would be much tougher.

On the other side it will be a good test for Rafa to see how the knee holds out but if it's OK cant see Roger winning this one.

I see Andy & Jamie have entered the doubles on a W/C.

Probably good practice for the singles considering when he last played.

Yes BOO and they won. I agree a good way to shake off the rust.

Andy is finally back in singles action tonight (9pm UK Time) when he takes on Evgeny Donskoy (Russia) in the Second Round. Anything less than a straight sets win will be a disappointment. These are the matches Andy should win comfortably and he needs a very strong showing here if he wants to show he has the consistency to press for a No.1 spot in the future. Best of luck Andy. clap

Murray starting off his Indian Wells tournament with some junk tennis unfortunately. He fell 5-1 behind to Donskoy before steeling himself and pulling his game together. He cut out the errors and upped his aggression to haul himself back to level at 5-5. Donskoy though held his nerve and broke Murray to win the first set 7-5. Full credit to the Russian he played some cracking shots. Is Murray heading for another early exit in Indian Wells?

Andy Murray getting more into the groove in the second set and hit much heavier shots and Donskoy was on the back foot with Murray winning the set 6-2. Here is hoping he can break his mini Indian Wells hoodoo.

Andy Murray finally through to the Third Round beating Evgeny Donskoy 5-7 6-2 6-2. Andy improved as the match went on as he went through the gears and the Russian just couldn't live with that. In the next round he will have a chance for revenge over Hen Sen Lu of Chinese Taipei who, of course, caused an upset in knocking Murray out of the 2008 Olympic Games in the First Round.

In the wee small hours of the morning Andy Murray got off to a slow start against Lu before finally overpowering his opponent 6-3 6-2. An improving sort of performance and next up tonight is a Fourth Round match against Carlos Berlocq (Argentina). He is more renowned as a clay courter so Andy will start a hot favourite to clinch a quarter-final spot.

Andy Murray overcame a battling Berlocq overnight in a feisty encounter laced with needle between the players. The Argentinian clay court specialist played some impressive stuff and was hitting with huge power and as the first set got down to the business end needle crept in. Berlocq complained to the umpire that Murray was taking too long between points and Murray counter-complained about Berlocq's elongated grunting which was putting him off. This was a match which Andy probably would have lost two or three years ago but he cannelled his anger into aggressive play and came through to win 7-6 6-4 in a close match. Next up for Andy - a match tomorrow night against Juan Martin Del Potro in the quarters.

Murray wins a great first set 7-6 on a tie-break. Del Potro playing very well ad defended manfully but Murray came through. The question is can Del Potro keep grafting as hard as he has to stay in rallies? Murray looking solid and aggressive.

Del Potro takes advantage od a sloppy start to the second set by Murray and ups his game to forge into a 3-0 lead.

And Del Potro was rock solid in that second set and won it 6-3. Into a decider we go.

What I would say here is that should Del Potro win it will (at the moment) be deserved. He has been very solid and played more consistently at a higher level whereas Andy has been more patchy. He has played well in phases and less so in others so there will be no complaints from me. I type this as Del Potro breaks to go 2-1 up.

No complaints from me as Del Potro has beaten Murray deservedly so. That is the best I have seen Juan play against Andy whilst Murray was not consistently excellent enough. Sums his night up that he lost the match on a double fault. Del Potro wins 6-7 6-3 6-1.

hi all.

Thanks CC for the commentary.

Saw the first set and half the second and turned off at that point. Didn't want to watch another breakdown from Andy. Not as bad as previous excursions into self beratement, but he spends far too much time languishing in self criticism and not enough channeling of energy into the next point.

A very up and down match which mirrored the whole tournie for him. Patchy good and bad points with moments of magic and not so magical. His radar was off at times when he is normally in the groove, long, wide and too short for a player like DelBoy, he soaks up the short ball and turns the momentum against Murray and did that quite a lot yesterday.

The UE count was not too bad, but they happened at crucial moments and is inexcusable given the amount of training and prep he has done in the months coming into Indian Wells. Match fitness is one thing, but core technique should not falter as in Andy's case. I know Delboy played well and solidly, but that has always been one of Murrays weapons , staying in the point and forcing errors or opening up the attacking shot. Maybe this new aggressive side has eradicated this skill from Andy's repertoire ? don't know really, but it seems as of late that he is making too many mistakes in run of the mill points.

He's never been that happy playing this tournament, lest hope its a lesson learned and he will bounce back at Miami and go one better this time.

It must be remembered how poorly Andy has done in the previous two years at Indian Wells where he had failed to even win a match. Andy has been patchy throughout all of his matches here this year but at least reached the quarters. He was ultra aggressive last night but for me his play lacked a bit of variety and consistency. As I said take nothing away from Del Potro who played at a consistently high level like never before against Andy and deserved the win. Still at least Andy continues to erode Federer's lead in the rankings and No.2 spot may not be too far away so all is not doom and gloom.

Just to prove what good form Del Potro is in he beat Novak Djokovic in similar circumstances last night. He lost the first set but came from behind to win where he will now face tge resurgent Rafael Nadal in the final.

Good wins for Delpo but I still think given another tournament/surface he may not do so well.

Andy was definitely under cooked this week and Novak I think ran out of gas as well as ideas.

Having said that Delpo would be a worthy member of the top five probably replacing Ferrer who like Roger is in his twilight years.

Miami should throw up improvements for Andy, with Ivan being in attendance? - here's hoping.

From an early stage in this tournament it always looked to me that the surface at Indian Wells was slower than Andy would have liked. Still it was a far better showing than previous years despite being rusty.
