An incredible stat for you:-

Andy Murray has been scheduled to play his Round One match on Day Three of the US Open on each of the last FOUR years whilst Federer, Nadal and Djokovic have never played on Day Three in all that time. My question is why?

Sorry he played on Day One last year then was in action on Day Three as well in Second Round action. My mistake folks.

Laura Robson in action just now and is leading Caroline Garcia 3-2 but the Second Round match is going to serve with Garcia yet to drop a point on her own serve.

Murray should be on Arthur Ashe Court after Juan Martin Del Potro's match against Garcia-Lopez which Del Potro leads 6-3 1-1.

Won't be on before 1am CC maybe a bit longer if Lopez pushes Juan a bit, but showers are looming from the Mid NW and will arrive in about an hour by the looks of things, although they could disperse over high ground as being reported.

Laura Robson seals the first set 6-4 against Caroline Garcia who looks to be a really big server. However, Laura immediately calls for the trainer. Oh God!

That is worrying. However, Del Potro does lead 6-3 3-3 so if he should win in straight sets then Murray could and should still be on court in around an hours time. As long as he finishes his match today I won't worry too much but if it carries over then obviously that is not good.

I can't see Llodra damaging Murray in his present state. Last year it was close, but we've got a different animal now and Llodra is a year older.

It has to be straight sets or I'll be worried.

At the moment the moving rain is passing NY into the atlantic and anything near Flushing Meadows is petering out before it gets there, we may be lucky and so too the organisers.

It should be straight sets and has to be if he has designs on defending the title as he has massive matches from the quarters onwards and must preserve energy. I don't know about everyone else here but I am pretty relaxed now (unlike previous slams) as no matter what Andy is a multiple slam winner and that is fabulous. To be honest though Rafa is looking very ominous.

Havent seen him go 5 sets yet on hard so its going to be interesting to see how he plays it tactically. there must be pain of some sort, so how he manages it and survives the two weeks will be a bit of a revelation.

40-30   c'mon me dear.

Aced it to go 4-3 up and one set up.

Garcia is ferocious on the forehand, but then so is Laura, its a good matchup.

It is on a knife edge this second set. Oh dear Del Potro looks set to lose the second set on a tie-break. Thank god I am off tomorrow - looks like it will be a late late night.

Time for Robson to make her move now or she may regret it if it goes to a tie-break.
