And Dan Evans wins beating Bernard Tomic 1-6 6-3 7-6 6-3 to seal a place in the Third Round of the US Open where he will play either Frank Dancevic or Tommy Robredo. Fabulous performance from Dan. I wonder who the last British man to reach the Third Round of the slam was other than Murray? Surely, Tim Henman?

Incidentally, Andy Murray will play Leonardo Mayer on Louis Armstrong Court from around 8pm tomorrow evening. Robson on Arthur Ashe earlier in the day.

Laura Robson gets her Third Round match under way now against Li Na.

Day Five starts on a downer for British tennis I'm afraid. Li Na has beaten Laura Robson 6-2 7-5 to progress into the Fourth Round. Li Na had a determined look to her and with her big serves and Laura failing to find any real rhythm it was no surprise to see that result. Hmm who would have thought Dan Evans would remain in the US Open longer than Laura Robson?

Djokovic in action and had to save set points in the first set as his game looked disjointed whilst Becker played some great stuff. Novak came through to win the first set on a tie-break and breaks serve early in the second set to lead 7-6 3-1.

Tomas Berdych making hard work of taking the first set against Denis Kudla. He lead 5-1 but has been pegged back to 5-4 and back on serve on Louis Armstrong.

Berdych takes the first set 7-6 but made hard work of it in a set lasting 67 minutes.

Berdych takes the second set on a tie-break (7-3) and leads 7-6 7-6 with two hours eight minutes of play on the clock. Kudla beginning to look fatigued but for a world No.104 he has acquitted himself very well. His only failing is that he hasn't played the key points too well and needs to improve his serve.

Kudla breaks at the start of the third set but is struggling with a thigh injury (possibly cramp) and the trainer has been called as he trails 6-7 6-7 2-0 with two hours 20 minutes played. Murray's match follows this. In this instance I don't think Andy will mind waiting.

Berdych through in straight sets beating Kudla 7-6 7-6 6-3 in a match just over two and three quarter hours long. A decent workout for Berdych but would have preferred a much shorter match I reckon against the world No.104.

Andy yet to impose himself on this match and having to scrap to hold his serve. He leads 2-1 but Mayer was always going to come out hitting big.

Murray still not settled and trying to build some momentum and serve not flowing yet. Still on serve in the first set with Murray leading 5-4.

Andy Murray takes the first set 7-5 as Mayer's levels dropped. Murray upped his level a fraction at the business end of the set but is at 70% so far. In second gear if you will but I have a feeling that will change and fully expect Murray to run out a fairly comfortable winner.

Andy has relaxed a bit more and breaks early in the second set and leads 7-5 3-0. Looking very good for Andy now.

Andy into his stride now and doing what he needs to do to win. He wins the second set 6-1. Playing a smart game as he is not going full pelt but playing canny stuff by getting the ball back in play encouraging Mayer to leak errors. A different performance than we saw against Llodra.

As looks likely, should Andy win, he will play Florian Mayer in the Third Round who beat qualifier Donald Young.

Sloppy play from Andy lets Mayer in for a break at the start of the third set and he lads 2-0 in the set.

Mayer, given fresh hope, is back playing like he did for much of the first set. He holds serve and leads 4-1. Murray doesn't want to be playing four sets here but it looks like he may have to.

Mayer now on the brink of taking the third set leading 5-2. This all stemmed from Murray missing an easy smash at the net on his own serve in the second game of the set. Murray threatened a break back and had break points but never took them.

Mayer takes the third set 6-3. Murray only has himself to blame for some sloppy play.

Just tuned in to see him lose that set. Mayer served well it has to be said.

Yes but Mayer was a beaten man until Andy drip fed him hope at the start of the third set.

Good solid start to the 4th with some good serving.

Was it the usual dip from Andy ?
