Fluke Jubba, I can touch type and the more I looked at it, it started to dawn on me. Still would like the enigma machine as I'm not usually good at code breaking.

Mmm, tricky one, dont know if its an equation (numbers) or sentence (words)......

Must be words, so, substitutions ?? or transpositions ??

Can't see any link to alphabetical substitution as there are too many symbols on a keyboard.

The %$£ line is the one that should be definable, but I cant see it.

Yep, I'm stuck fast. May have to rethink.

If you can't work it out, Jubbs, then I've got no chance!

Where's MTS?.....she's not been around for a couple of days....hope she's ok.

I'm here, all work and no play blah, blah, blah. But I'm back for a little while as I have Davis Cup tennis all weekend Very Happy

Anyhoo, just to set you off it's not an equation, so Jubba you are nearly there, just need to tweak your thinking a little.
Come on Sol, you can do it

I'm still trying to solve this MTS1 but I can't get a handle on the process of the symbol exchange.

Its interesting in that there are no letters, only symbols, and there seems to be a system of mirroring a keyboard in a different orientation, but I cant fathom the position or the use of the same key for two symbols, three times. I thought it meant Capitols, but that doesnt seem to work.

I'm still stumped for now.

Jubba methinks you're over complicating things, it must be your genius. Remember I'm not a genius and not very good at making up codes. Smile

Re: Break the code!

Post by Jubbahey on Fri 16 Sep 2011 - 22:28

The simplest ones are sometimes the most difficult....

+ x+/'- + x+/ %$£ +' =@+= ^+~~#! ~*^/-
a tasas a tas pdp aa eape ?acche cs?ss
p mpfsqm p mpfs pdp pq tapt ?peehem es?fsm

I tried the simple swap symbol for 1st letter of its word etc, but can't make any sense of the list. The fact that you have two symbols on one key, three times, cuts out a lot of permutations, but I'm blind to the initial key to it all.

You may have to drop a subtle hint, because I can't go on from here.

I keep looking on here to see if Jubba, or anyone else, has solved it.

I am totally intrigued as to what the answer is.

Well we have Tilde, Caret, Solidus, Acute and the more obvious, but still can't break it.

MTS1, since you are a touch typist, I've gone down a certain route, that may have been the wrong road to start

Okay to put you out of your misery, and I have to apologise for this cos it is a pretty lame code. The symbols replace a letter. Jubba you have the a's right. Also the symbol ' is doing its job as an apostrophe, not duplicating anything. It has a scottish theme to it confused

^+~~#! ~*^/- catthe tscsm

Well, thats not scottish by any standards, even with a pint o' whiskey in me.

Sorry MTS1, I cant get it.

You win.
