SPOTY (BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2011)

I see there was a lot of moans about Andy being one of the ten candidates up for this, you would think he had put forward his own name for it

However he still has friends out there apart from us.

BBC had the final results of the public poll on the sports page:

Mark Cavendish 169,152 (49.47%)

Darren Clarke 42,188 (12.34%)

Mo Farah 29,780 (8.71%)

Luke Donald 23,854 (6.98%)

Andy Murray 18,754 (5.48%)

Andrew Strauss 17,994 (5.26%)

Alastair Cook 13,038 (3.81%)

Rory McIlroy 11,915 (3.48%)

Dai Greene 9,022 (2.64%)

Amir Khan 6,262 (1.83%)

However lets hope for next year Andy with that all important Slam win - any one will do

* Or maybe an Olympic Gold (as well)!

I wouldn't give a fig if he never won the SPOTY award in his life as long as he wins a slam. I know which is more important.

Thanks for that BOO.

That's quite an impressive amount of votes for Andy Very Happy

I'd love him to win SPOTY.

He's going to have tough competition next year with our Olympic athletes...tho' if he wins Wimbledon he'll walk it!

No though about it, he WILL win SW19 next year and the USO too!!!

(although I though Mo Farrah would "run" away with the spoty)
